This week I had the blessing of attending a meeting of the Uxbridge Quaker Meetinghouse Association. This group has maintained and opened to the public the Quaker Meetinghouse (1770) in Uxbridge, MA. They are in process of deciding what might be best for the meetinghouse, and the continuation of the association.
This Meetinghouse has quite a history – and was the spiritual home of Abby Kelley Foster, Job Scott, Effingham Capron – among others. The history and spirit of the meetinghouse is very present in the worship of Friends that still takes place there on some first days, in an informal worship group.
I look forward to hearing how this project and preservation goes forward!
